Monaco travel guide

On the Mediterranean sea, bordered by France, Monaco is known as a millionaire’s playground — complete with deluxe hotels, top-end restaurants and big casinos.
While you don’t need deep pockets to enjoy a visit to this wealthy enclave, you’ll certainly be surrounded by many who enjoy the high life to the full. Although best-known for its annual Formula One grand prix which takes place in May, Monaco is not only about splashing cash. With its mild climate and scenic location, this coastal resort is a great place to visit at any time of year.

Sea breezes keep hot summer temperatures pleasant, and temperatures rarely sink below 13C in winter. Motor racing fans gather in January for the Monte Carlo rally and in May for the annual grand prix, while music-lovers opt for November when the Monte Carlo Jazz Festival gets underway in the elegant Salle Garnier at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo. The Prince’s Palace, open in 1191 as a Genoese fortress, hosts events throughout the year.
